Enterprise Reporting
Client Business Issues:
A financial services company recognized growing issues related to management reporting. The issues ranged from information reporting quality to total cost of ownership of the various reporting activities and software packages. The company requested Arc to determine enterprise management reporting requirements, develop a solution strategy, and evaluate vendor offerings.
Our Approach:
Arc conducted a structured interview process involving twenty-four client employees to determine current state management reporting status; including requirements, issues, and desired information flows/processes. The interviews were documented and issues were logged. External vendor analysis was performed to identify best in class information management practices and vendor offerings.
The internal and external information was synthesized to develop an enterprise management reporting solution vision. The solution vision was reviewed and endorsed by a cross section of department managers and the CFO.
Based on the solution vision a detailed RFP was written and distributed to several leading vendors. We provided pro-active support to the vendors to ensure understanding and promote the best response possible; including onsite demonstrations using client sample data and scripts.
RFP responses were evaluated using a vendor scorecard that weighted individual requirements and ranked relative performance. Quantitative scores were supported with detailed commentary. The recommendation was fully supported by the project participants and the CFO.
Value Received By Client:
Our methodology and dedicated focus enabled the client to understand that the various reporting issues could be solved at a lower cost with an enterprise reporting management solution. The current state analysis enabled the client to understand the magnitude and consistency of the "departmental silo" issues. An important value-add was Arc's ability to cross departmental lines (e.g. business, technology, finance, accounting, human resources, compliance…) to create the shared solution vision and to pro-actively manage the vendor response process.
